Funny bones

Papa says that we should mark yesterday as a milestone in my life. What was so special about 29 Jul 09?

“Isaac” means “he who laughs” and I am true to my name. I like laughing and I laugh easily, even from the day that I was born. But making other people laugh is another thing.

Papa says that I have made my folks laugh with the funny things that I have said or done or both. But never intentionally. Or if I have tried to be funny, I wasn’t. Er, who made them critics anyway?

But papa says that my funny bone became more pronounced yesterday. As we walked past a Maybank branch, I commented that “there is only May bank, no June bank or July bank”. Papa said that while that was not Jerry Seinfeld funny, it was my attempt at intentionally playing with words. Can’t a little guy just pass a little judgment on a bright yellow bank without being analysed?

Later in the evening papa reminded me how I should refer to my private parts by their proper names. So what I called my “dickie” was actually my penis and my “balls” or “bolas” or “nuts” were testicles. Yeah, I knew that, but the proper names just aren’t as fun to say.

Then papa asked me if I knew what the skin around my testicles was called. I didn’t understand what he meant, so he said that my testicles were in something like a bag and asked me if I knew the name of the bag.

I thought for a while and replied that one testicle was in a Deuter and the other was in a Thomas and Friends bag (those were the two brands of school bags I have, you see). I knew I couldn’t possibly be right, but since we were having such a ridiculous conversation I thought that ridiculous answers were in order.

The right answer was just as ridiculous: Scrotum. Why would anyone want to give that name to a bag?
