To be or not to be

That was the question that one of my friends at school might have asked herself. She was to play Juliet for our performance today.

When it was time to put on the show, she opted not to be. But we found an improptu stand-in and the show went on.

I did not play Romeo, but I think that I should have. My folks were at the back of the room and they said that they could hear everything I said. I had only one official line, but I gave a running commentary throughout the play.

Maybe I should have been the director! Imagine the sequel: The Return of Romeo and Juliet! There’d be car chases, explosions, chocolate chip cookies, exploding chocolate chip cookies, Stormtroopers, Indiana Jones, and more!

There would be no kissing. If someone insisted on kissing, I’d make them exploding kisses! Sigh, maybe one day…
