Adults?

Adults aren’t the most reliable or responsible people. I found that out at the celebration of the Moon Cake Festival in school today.

First they call the Moon Cake Festival the Mid-Autumn Festival. What autumn is there here in Singapore? There are no colourful leaves and it feels like mid-summer to me!

When we were invited to eat moon cakes, there was a mad rush to gobble the goodies. All I saw were arms, legs, and bums! None of the adults told the kiddies to queue up. So mama, papa and I stayed away from the crowd as they gobbled up some of the moon cakes that we brought!

Let’s not forget the lantern contest! Mama put my name down for the best home and kiddy-made lantern contest. When it was time to show it off, someone forgot to put my name on the judges’ list! It was a good thing that the school principal remembered that I was in it!

But I need not have bothered even though I was proud of my lantern. Standing before the judges was a formality. Mostly kiddie-made lanterns like mine did not stand a chance against those that had more mama and papa input.

Sigh! I think I’ll take my time to grow up…
