Boston Day 3

Papa says that Boston in summer is like Singapore all year round. It rains the same: long and heavy. If it’s not raining, it’s hot and humid. Passengers on the bus don’t move to the back and don’t always offer seats to people like me. People on the train stand in doorways or get in the way of exiting passengers. If that is the case, why does he want to go back home?

Speaking of papa, I did not see very much of him even though I could hear his voice. I saw mama a lot and smiled at her. Lots of people wanted to talk to me and touch me. I hope that mama collected some money for my troubles. Anyway, mama explained that papa was carrying me face out most of the time. Ah, so papa was my mule. He complained a lot about back aches and feet aches. I don’t know why he complained… I was feeling fine the whole time! We had to stop every now and then to fuel my mule. Then “Hyah!”, we would ride off again.

Today my mule actually ran because we were caught in the rain. I felt like I was in a giant bathroom with the shower running. (Some parts of the place even smelled like another part of the bathroom.)

Anyway, today we crossed the Charles River to visit Harvard and MIT. Mama and papa saw the sights, browsed in a few shops, and ate at Mr Bartley’s Burger Cottage. The last place was noisy and crowded but fun as there were so many things to see and hear. The other fun thing to do was riding the super long escalator at the Porter train stop. How long was it? Well, I was not hungry when we started but I was ravenous by the time we reached the top. Speaking of hungry, mama fed me moo all over the place but the most interesting was on the steps of the Memorial Church at Harvard. The MIT train stop also had giant chimes that you rang by moving a lever back and forth. Ding-dong, cling-clang… so nice!
