Physics?
I am learning some principles of Physics by observation and experimentation.
By watching the fireworks on the 4th of July, I learned that light travels faster than sound. After that I wanted to know which traveled faster: sounds or smells. I wondered each time I fart whether someone hears it first or smells it first.
In my experiments at home, I hear my folks cheering me on right after I poot-poot. But I am not sure whether they are reacting to the sound or the smell. So I decided that I would release a “silent killer” for my next experiment. Why? With a soundless fart, I will know when I let it go. If my folks make noise as soon as I release one, I will know that smell travels as fast as sound. If not, then sound travels faster than smells.
I carried out my experiment when we were at a cashier’s counter at Marsh. I let one silent killer rip while I was in my sling. After a few seconds, papa went “Pee-yoo!” and starting fanning the air. Then mama did the same thing. The cashier did not do anything except break a paper bag handle. It seems that smell is not as fast as sound. The question I have now is: Do some smells travel faster than others?
